Hi, I'm Shawn Smith widely (or not so widely) known on the internet as Zaklog the Great. I think I chose such a strange handle because my real name is so boring (I mean, for an american at least, that has to be one of the plainest names I can think of.) I am a [absolute nut!] sophomore at Shippensburg University. My page has rapidly expanded and will [self-destruct in 5 seconds 5, 4 . . .] continue to do so because of four facts 1. I have too much spare time 2. I am interested in a lot of different things 3. I enjoy learning HTML (sick isn't it?) and 4. Elvis has never been president of the United States.
A few of the things I'm interested in: God, music, writing, sf/fantasy, and lots of other stuff [Fire! Fire!]God - What can I say? I love God, but all too often, I act nothing like it. I want to serve him, but my sinful nature keeps dragging me down. My page on this topic is Creed.
Music - I mostly listen to Christian music, but I do listen to other stuff occasionally. My page on this topic is Just A Few Notes. For the moment that page mostly consists of my favorite bands list, but there's also a survey. Also related to this topic, I'm a DJ on my college's radio station. My time slot this semester is Saturday morning 6-9 AM.Writing - I aspire to be a career writer. (Optimistic, huh?) I have written a fair amount of poetry, a short story or two, a couple of skits, and I'm now working on my first book, if I can ever get it published. I have a page on Ink Drops and Out of My Head.
Science Fiction and Fantasy - I've liked sci-fi since I was a little kid. I would like to be a sci-fi author someday. My favorite authors include J. R. R. Tolkien, Orson Scott Card, Douglas Adams, Fred Saberhagen, Isaac Asimov, and others. I don't have a page on this topic (yet).Other Stuff - The letter R (ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!), Fire, Explosives, Monty Python, Dead Chicken Launchers, Fun with food, etc.
I think I'll just shut up about doing this regularly, 'cause it's obviously just not gonna happen. My life is busy at the moment (which makes me wonder why I'm spending time on this) but that's okay, 'cause I am getting stuff done, and it's cool stuff (at least in my opinion.)
I'm in the middle of writing a short story set in the world of The Matrix. I seriously doubt it will ever see publication (mostly because I have no idea who could legally print a story about the Matrix. Woo-hoo! This Tuesday the Matrix is coming out to rent! I'm going to buy the wide-screen version Nov. 23rd when it comes out in general release. I am a certified freak for that movie (and some of my friends would say in general, too.)I turn twenty this coming Thursday (Sept. 23rd). I guess I'm experiencing a "quarter-life" crisis. I feel old! I'm not going to be a teenager anymore. It doesn't make me feel any younger that I'm going to be an uncle in about three weeks. That's really cool, but it makes me feel even older.
New stuff on my page: The major announcement this time is that I finally started a page for the awards this site has recieved You Really Love Me! Previously, I just kept them at the bottom of this page. I'm probably going to start applying for awards again soon, so I'll likely be receiving some more.I've added to Could I Be Wrong? on Shredding the Lies. I also added another, It Doesn't Say Jesus, which should be of interest to any Five Iron Frenzy fans out there. I'm in the process of revising the mainpage for "Shredding." I may entirely change the design, I'm not sure yet. I'm also going to revise a few of my old essays, add any new info I've found and eliminate those annoying little grammatical errors.
I'm also in the process of splitting up And I Quote into sections by topic. So far I have Philosophical Ramblings, Quotes on Christianity and Funny Little Words. I don't want to post them until I have all the topics done, though, so you'll have to wait for that. I'm hoping to be done by the 25th.Cool Quote of the Week: No good deed goes unpunished.
